Molarity calculator

Molarity calculator is used to determine the amount of solvent in solution / the volume of solution needed to dissolve in solute.

What is meant by molarity?

It is described as the amount of substance dissolved in a liquid. The solvent is the substance that is present in large amounts in the solution and the solvent is the substance that is present in less amount.

It is also defined as the relationship between the solution volume and a solute’s moles.

Formula:

The formula to find the value of molarity we have,

M = (10 × density × weight percentage)/ (formula weight)

  • formula weight: the total of all atom's atomic weights.
  • weight percentage: the concentration of components in a mixture.
  • Density: how much mass is contained in the given volume.
  • M: is the sign of molarity.

How to find molarity?

Example 1:

Find the molarity value if we have 2 % by weight sucrose solution with a density of 1.8 g /mL.

Solution:

Step 1: We have to write the data value from the given statement

Density = 1.8 g/Ml

Weight percentage = 2 %

Formula weight = 342

Step 2: By using the formula, we have

M = (10 × density × weight percentage)/ (formula weight)

M = (10 × 1.8 × 2)/ (342)

molarity = 0.006 M

Example 2:

Find the molarity value if we have 10 % by weight NaOH solution with a density of 1.05g/Ml.

Solution:

Step 1: We have to write the data value from the given statement

Density = 1.05 g/Ml

Weight percentage = 10 %

Formula weight = 40

Step 2: By using the formula, we have

M = (10 × density × weight percentage)/ (formula weight)

M = (10 × 1.05 × 10)/ (40)

molarity = 2.625 M
