  • The denominator always remains the same.
  • The simplest way to write it is: (a*c+b)/c

What is the improper fraction of the mixed fraction 12 * 2/5?

Solution:

Step 1: Multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the numerator of the proper fraction to it.

(a * c) + b = 12*5 + 2

= 60 + 2

= 62

Step 2: Now write the above result over "c".

[(a * c) + b] / c = 62/5

Hence, 62/5 is the improper fraction of the given mixed number.
