Moles to Gram Calculator

Moles to gram calculator converts the given data value into grams and calculates the number of atoms present in the atom. It provides a step-by-step solution to the given value.

What is a mole?

A mole is a unit of the amount of substance. Mole is Avogadro’s number of particles, which is exactly 6.02 × 1023. The unit mole is used because we can measure the amount of substance more easily than the other unit’s kilogram, million, billion, etc.

Formula

To find the grams from the given number of moles, we have to use the formula

m = mol × w

where

  • m is the mass of the substance which will be in grams.
  • Mol is the number of moles of the substance.
  • w is the weight of the substance.

How to convert moles into grams?

Example 1:

Calculate the mass in grams of 2.7 mol of H2O.

Solution:

Step 1: Find the molecular mass of H2O.

H = 1.008

O = 16

Therefore, the molecular mass of H2O is

2(1.008) + 16 = 18.016

One mole of H2O weight is 18.016.

Step 2: By using the formula, we have

Now we have to find 2.7 mol of H2O.

=2.7 x 18.016

= 48.643

48.643 g of H2O.

Example 2:

Convert 5 moles of HCL to grams.

Step 1: Find the molecular mass of HCL.

One mole of HCL weight is 36.5.

Step 2: By using the formula, we have

Now we have to find 5 moles of H2O.

=5 x 36.5

= 109.5

109.5 g of HCL.
